Dialog and respect
arboRise has formed a partnership with 200 farming families in the region, each of which has a seed tree of one of the 40 selected forest species. Each family harvests at least 5000 seeds from its tree and is paid for this production. This code of ethics set the principles which guide our interactions.
arboRise ensures an impartial and fair selection of these families, using the following criteria:
- The main selection criterion is the presence of a healthy seed tree of the required species. The identification of seed trees in the families is validated by a local forestry specialist. The species and reproductive quality of the trees is therefore the first criterion for selecting families and/or replacing them
- arboRise promotes plant biodiversity and human diversity. Thus, arboRise commits not to privilege or exclude any ethnic group, religion or political orientation. Local customs and habits are important and arboRise is interested in the opinions of political, religious, sporting and community leaders
- Seed harvesting should not be at the expense of education and training. In line with UN sustainable development goals 4 and 5, arboRise calls for a commitment from the family to support the schooling of its children, especially girls
- arboRise is committed to ensuring that the process of recruiting families is fair according to the principles of organizational justice:
- The decision must be based on equal treatment.
- The process must be predictable and transparent for those involved.
- Interactions must be respectful and information must be appropriate and adequate.
arboRise is committed to submit this code of ethics and its interactions with its partners, in particular with the farming families, to an ethical supervision
